In the January 4th edition of the Federal Register, FMCSA published a Notice announcing three “public listening sessions” on their potential revisions to the HOS rules. These listening sessions will be held on Jan. 19 in Arlington, VA, Jan. 22 in Dallas (held at the Hyatt Regency DFW,
International Parkway, P.O. Box 619014, DFW Airport, Texas, USA 75261 (1-972-453-
1234)., and Jan. 25 in Los Angeles.
FMCSA raises several questions in the Notice regarding rest and on-duty time, the restart of the 60- and 70-hour rule, sleeper berth use, and loading and unloading time. Although the questions are posed by FMCSA as discussion items for the listening sessions, the questions themselves suggest possible alternatives to the current HOS rules being considered by the Agency.
