On Monday, the Energy Information Administration reported that the national average price of retail on-highway diesel climbed 2 cents to $2.924 per gallon. The national average, which increased for the fourth consecutive week, is currently 45 percent higher than at this time in 2009. Also this week,the nationwide average price for a gallon of Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel increased 2 cents to $2.926. Meanwhile, the price of West Texas Intermediate crude oil dropped $1.44 yesterday to $79.80 per barrel. Nevertheless, oil prices are up 68.5 percent from a year earlier.
