Congress Considering New Stimulus Bill

Responding to rising unemployment figures, both House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) have signaled their intention to take up a new economic stimulus package, perhaps as early as December. Among the options reportedly under consideration is a short-term highway bill that draws funding from the General Fund. President Obama recently mentioned "... additional investments in our aging roads and bridges ..." as one option that he is considering to jumpstart job creation.
