Late Nov. 5, the U.S. Senate voted unanimously to confirm Anne Ferro as the new head of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Ms. Ferro was nominated by President Obama in June of this year and her confirmation hearing was held in early October. Ms. Ferro is highly qualified for this position, having served as a state regulator leading the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration from 1997 through 2003. From 2003 until the present, Ms. Ferro served as the head of the Maryland Motor Truck Association. We look forward to working with Ms. Ferro to advance ATA’s comprehensive highway safety agenda to further improve the trucking industry’s on-road safety performance.
